The Asian Mayors Forum (AMF) elected Isfahan as the "Tourism Capital" of 2025 due to its blend of historical charm and modern attractions.

The cities of Tabriz (Iran) and Antalya (Turkey) were jointly awarded the title of "Environmental Capital," while Kermanshah (Iran) was named the "Cultural Capital" of 2025.

According to the Asian Mayors Forum, the 2025 capital cities each serve as inspiring examples of innovation and excellence in their respective categories. The forum hopes that recognizing these cities will foster greater collaboration across Asia in culture, environment, and tourism.

The Asian Mayors Forum was established through an initiative by Tehran Municipality and with the support of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA). Its inaugural meeting was held in Iran in November 2008 (Aban 1387 in the Persian calendar), attended by 160 officials, including 44 mayors from 33 Asian countries, as well as delegations from international organizations (United Nations, Europe, ECO, ASEAN, Eurasia, and the North African Union).  

The forum’s permanent secretariat is headquartered in Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Its primary objective is to promote cooperation among Asian cities in various fields. Currently, nearly 115 cities are members of the forum, with Isfahan joining in 2011 (1390 SH).
